Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from Diseases of Melons and Cucumbers During 1903 and 1904
Not being satisfied with the information that I had been able to obtain by means of correspondence and personal interviews with some of the growers, and the few specimens of diseased leaves, I visited a number of the melon and cucumber fields in the vicinity of Arroyo, Wellsburg, Point Pleasant, Elwell and Mercer's Bot tom, ' some of them only. Once, others at intervals of about a month. At these several places and intermediate points I collected speci mens and took notes on the diseases of melons and cucumbers. Ou the specimens collected I have found several species of fungi attacking both the vines and the fruits. I am indebted to the growers whom I met for their kind treatment and valuable infor mation, especially to Mr. H. C. Brenneman of Arroyo, Mr. S. C. Gist of Wellsburg, Mr. R. L. Hutchinson of Point Pleasant and Mr.'0. S. Kline of Elwell.
