IN introducing to the public this, the first part of a treatise upon Poultry, it is believed that a want will be supplied which has long existed - that of an inexpensive and practical work for the assist ance of amateurs in the selection and production of specimens somewhat nearer the standard than the great majority of birds exhibited at our Poultry Shows. The fact that many improve ments have been made, and new varieties and points introduced since the publication of any comprehensive work, was an additional inducement to the Author to commence the present series.
