Les lettres qu'on va lire, et dont je poss�de les origi naux autographes, ont �t� �crites, du 13 avril 1789 au 27 janvier 1790, par Emmanuel Barbotin, cur� de Prouvy, pr�s Valenciennes, d�put� aux Etats g�n�raux par le clerg� des bailliages' du Hainaut r�unis au Quesnoy. Elles sont adress�es au R. P. Engelbert Baratte, capu cin, qui desservait, en son absence, la cure de Prouvy, et � deux autres personnes.
