Publisher's Synopsis
This book constitutes an attempt to re-examine some of the main areas of the field of cultural studies, using the USA as the source of material. The author admits that he has been highly selective in the topics he has dealt with, and that there is a distinct bias in the book towards coming to grips with contemporary theoretical arguments in cultural analysis. However it is hoped that the book succeeds in touching upon the issues that have been important within the USA, and in the USA's relations with the rest of the world in the 1980s.
