The translation known as Dryden's was first published in the years 1683-86, Dryden in fact only providing the life of Plutarch and the dedicatory epistle, the latter omitted in the present edition. Both the original edition and Clough's revision, first published in 1859, were frequently reprinted.With the bookplate of publisher John Murray.
