Authentic records of debates are drawn upon to filter out and typify interjections with reference to characteristic techniques, syntactic structures, provocation cues, and speech-act forms. The typologies thus obtained help to classify and quantify the various instances of actual interjection and to establish a historical and comparative foundation for a discussion of ongoing change in interjectory communication in German parliaments.
