Zebras amazing, agile, swift animals who live on the African Serengeti and migrate ancient migrations to find the right foods, mainly tall grasses to feed on. They travel with the wildebeast who eat short grasses, and both follow the rains to find food in proper supplies. *** In the hot Mali African sun a herd of zebras was trying to survive in the newly drought stricken area and the herd was looking for water. A mother zebra who recently had a colt succombed to the harsh conditions, leaving her son she perished in the heat. Her son tries through the day to waken his mother, even trying to nurse, but she does not stir. The zebra father tries to get his son to come with him on the Great Migration circuit. Papa zebra refused to follow the rest of the herd moving away, standing by his son, inprinting the need to move yet trying to be empathetic to the needs of his beloved son. African buzzards descend on the carcass driving off the zebra colt. The baby finally and sadly leaves his beloved Mama, following his Papa. They meet up with the herd later that night. Baby zebra needed to find a nursing mother to adopt him if he would live. In all likelihood this will happen because his Papa was the herd leader.
