Publisher's Synopsis
ZACHANIA A member of a hunted race and born into a world where he doesn't belong. Talon as a child is spared the burden of his heritage. As he grows into adulthood he discovers his secret, a secret so powerful and so profound, Emperors, Kings and Wizards cower in fear. This is Zachania...An epic world of mystery and legend. 'Only those who have been hunted can truly value survival' 'Is there a price for freedom that is too great? Is there a line we cross over because we feel we are just?' If I am to lead our nation then first I must make the nation feel I am worthy of following. When I ask them to do something and they do it because they want to....then I am worthy to lead. As their leader no one is better positioned to fill their lives with joy...or pain. Judge not when I sit alone but judge me as a leader of men when defeat is looking coldly into my face. This is a most unusual and addictive story. In Talon you have created a man of equalling war and philosophy. This reminded me strongly of a book called Latro in the Mists, by Gene Wolfe, one of my own favourites. The considered, thoughtful MC really shines through. I thought this suited to your flamboyant yet surprisingly deep style of writing. I felt this showed most strongly when Talon reflects upon fighting for his family and freedom. It was like a pause for breath in amongst the heat of battle. It's reflective nature really emphasised what was going on around him. Talon is certainly a strong character and written to such a convincing level that this may almost be a piece of historical significance rather than fiction, so well done on that.
