Publisher's Synopsis

A brief history of Fairyland is given in this work called "Young Shadows". The story follows a cornucopia of poems written in various disciplines ranging from Iambic Pentameter to Haiku form, chronicling the designs of what are called the "Thirteen Kings". These Thirteen Kings try to thwart the various saints, and war among one another, so a hero must rise in each poem to thwart the kings, lest they war and bring about Armageddon. Through the beginning, when there wasn't yet Magik, to the end when the kings wage war over Helen of Troy, the story is about being the hero of one's own story. The Fairies and Orc take the personification of our failures and insecurities; the kings take the form of the inherent powers out of our control found in the world while the hero personifies our own place in the story, as the one thrust in the middle of a bizarre world that's hard to make sense of. The hero must overcome their Young Shadows in order to attain the prize: Love, life and liberty.
