Publisher's Synopsis
Do you love great literature and perhaps great music and art as well-but somehow have never been able to "get" poetry? Would you like to learn to get the joy from poems you get from novels, biographies, symphonies, operas paintings, etc. without having to go through English Lit 101 again? If your answer is "Yes" I can help. It started with a friend I met in book discussion groups. He loved literature and music but, though he knew there was great beauty in poetry, he just didn't get it. We started discussing poetry in general and them specific poems over lunch. The challenge for me was how to make poetry come alive for him -to help him enjoy the beauty in poetry that he enjoyed so much in prose and music. These sessions have been a great success and a joy for both of us. He now loves poetry and reads it on his own with joy, just as he loves music and prose. Now I'd like to pass along what we learned to others-to you perhaps.
