It is 1645 and the Civil War is raging. Rosalind Pendrill finds her Royalist loyalties severely tested when Roundhead troopers, under the command of Major Francis Latimer, are billeted in her home, Pendrill Manor. Rosalind should regard Francis as an enemy, but finds herself increasingly attracted to him.
