Publisher's Synopsis
Indie comedy from Mike White, the director of 'Chuck and Buck' (2000) and 'The Good Girl (2002)'. A quiet, lonely office worker named Peggy (Molly Shannon) goes into a tailspin when her beloved dog Pencil dies.This leads her to start dating several men including her next door neighbour Al (John C. Reilly) and Newt (Peter Sarsgaard). As these relationships fizzle out, however, she slowly becomes more and more absorbed with animal welfare and the rescuing of caged canines. She begins to make some very controversial decisions that threaten her well-ordered existence as she dallies with veganism, animal rights activism, and violence. Are regaining her self-control and finding true love now beyond her reach?
