Teresa, the grandmother, grew up isolated in an orphanage in the middle of the Sierra Gorda queretana, and since she was little she has seen with shame how easy it is to serve as a medium to souls in distress.

Of her children, one is ordained as a priest, while another joined her cousin to set up the Revolution and end up involved in the First World War. Her daughter Leonor falls in love with "the General", who coaxes her to always have her close to her as her lover and mark a destiny very different from that of her dreams.
