Developed by Writers in the Grove, an open, community creative writing group in Forest Grove, Oregon, and designed to stimulate the mind, firing the neurons in new and different ways. The 370 prompts are grouped in 5 categories: Question Prompts, Word or Phrase Prompts, Thoughtful Prompts, Stuck in the Moment Prompts, and Writing Lesson Prompts to inspire, motivate, and improve your creative writing skills. Included are 54 poems and prose by Writers in the Grove members based upon these prompts for even more inspiration. Many of these prompts represent current and historical events and encourage writers of fiction, non-fiction, memoir, storytelling, horror, romance, drama, poetry, mysteries, comedy, urban fantasy, and every genre of writing. Writers in the Grove has met weekly for over 12 years, bringing together a diverse group of writers from within the community.
