Publisher's Synopsis

"The ultimate goal for new employees should be to start with a realistic view and understanding of the world at work and to develop an attitude that is healthy and confident, striving to not only survive, but to thrive in the workplace."

John R. Cammerata believes that many entering the workforce can benefit from some specific knowledge and skills to assist them in their journey to successful careers. "Getting off to a good start is valuable in everything we undertake. Getting off to a good start in the world of work can pay dividends far into the future both personally and professionally."

So what qualifies as a good start in today's workforce?

From Cammerata's perspective, it's bringing in a "real world perspective." This short, explicit guide helps to ready the new employee by portraying day-to-day real work life experiences which include both good and bad outcomes. This unique orientation of what really happens is based on actual experience. It not only portrays the situation, but offers tips on how best to deal with these scenarios and avoid pitfalls.

There are 13 brief sections to the guide dealing with everything from getting started in a new job to coping with a horrible day at work... and everything in between!
