This term, 'Work Life Balance' (WLB) was first coined in 1986 in America, as mentioned in the study conducted by Lockwood in 2003. It became a topic of great importance in the early 1990s because of a highly influential book written by Juliet Schors (1991) - "The Overworked American: The Unexpected Decline of Leisure". In the last 20 years, the amount of time has risen quite steadily by the Americans. The text of this book states that the nature of contemporary employment has created excessive demands on people which is being observed to cause a real decline in the 'leisure tiME.
