The following pages were written for work ers vjho wish for words of encouragement and hope to strengthen them in their toil; I Wish to forestall the critics, therefore, by say ing to them, Gentlemen, these pages are not for you. In the midst of many pressing cares, I have endeavored to speak to an emer gency; and While I am sensible'of the great defects of my work, I permit my words to go forth, because I believe I have spoken truth Which may be of benefit to a larger number ofthe Workers than I can personally reach.
