Publisher's Synopsis
Words like wine is the story of the confusion that comes when our outside world does not meet our expectations or we don't feel like we fit in, and how we deal with that disappointment internally. Through intense and honest self-examination the author tries a number of remedies such as love, sex, drugs, drunkenness, philosophy, travel, and materialism to "feel better". When no cure can be found the author dives headlong into depression and suffering finding comfort there, but is devastated by the lack of significance and community they have been seeking all along. The clues to happiness are sprinkled throughout, and ultimately the author realizes that being happy and fulfilled is simply a choice to do so. We can choose to suffer as life happens to us, or we can choose to embrace the struggle as life unfolds itself for us.This is a judgement free zone. Darkness and lightness exist equally in the following pages. Let go of any inhibitions and embrace the range of emotions that will arise. Each piece is designed to create awareness, awakeness, and aliveness. Recognize and dwell for a moment on each emotion that arises as you read. All are worthy and valuable tools to find your path towards happiness and fulfillment. In these verses, the author is at times loose with language and revels in wordplay, as they bounce between the esoteric and superficial, the sublime and less than sublime, and at other times is quite rhythmic and structured. Have fun, and be surprised and delighted as pure joy is the eventual outcome."We hear of the conversion of water into wine at the marriage in Cana as a miracle. But this conversion is, through the goodness of God made every day before our eyes. Behold the rain which descends from heaven upon our vineyards; there it enters the roots of the vines, to be changed into wine; a constant proof that God loves us, and loves to see us happy. The miracle in question was preformed only to hasten the operation." - Benjamin Franklin
