Until recently the experience of women living in rural areas was relatively rarely written about or researched. This book, written by academics and practitioners living and working in Scotland, adds to the emerging literature. The basis for the book was a conference held in mid 1995, and some of those presenting papers have expanded their work for this publication. - - It reports on research relating to women?s social disadvantage in rural areas, healthcare and childcare provision and access to the law.
