Publisher's Synopsis

Women Writing: On the Edge of Dark and Light is a collection of works by Tacoma-area poets. Catherine Place in Tacoma is a space of healing, hope, and connection for all women and serves nearly 1,500 women each year. Named for Catherine of Siena, a 14th century Dominican who worked to effect change in the society of her day, Catherine Place fosters community learning and growth, leadership, support, and empowerment for women. The poets represented in this anthology are members of the Inscape poetry group, which has been meeting weekly at Catherine Place for the past five years. The group is facilitated by Kay Mullen, who edited this collection. While poets weave in and out of the group according to their own needs and circumstances, an ongoing group continues to meet each week, and all have discovered the power poetry continues to play in their lives. Proceeds from the sale of this anthology will support Catherine Place's ongoing work with women in transition.
