Publisher's Synopsis

After World War II, American's were sent to occupy Japan. This is my mother's story about living in Japan on an American Air Base in the 1940's and 1950s. It was a different life with the cultures of Japan and America colliding in one place. We had won the war but how were we going to live our lives in a country so vastly different from our own? It was a challenging and unique experience. All the while our mother, a uniquely different person herself, worked to hold the family together in a strange place.

It is also my story both before and after our life in Japan that shows the person she was and how she changed the lives of my brothers and I. She was one of a kind.
