A scarce detective novel from Faber's estimable list - in part curated by T.S. Eliot, who is known to have been a writer of many of their blurbs, including this one, which emphasises primarily his publisher's perception of the author's work. He had sent a copy to his friend, the author Hope Mirrlees, adumbrating the gift in a letter as 'the latest Cyril Hare, which I think is good' and inscribing her copy with reference to the text.
