Kain's fabled sword Blood-Seeker has become too dangerous for him to wield so he enlists the aid of a former lover, Zarretta who is a powerful sorceress and warrior. Fatu her bodyguard comes along with her to help. They travel to the Haunted Forest to retrieve Blood-Seeker's twin blade. The dark forest is full of mutated beasts and ghosts. The lost city Toltarnal, located inside of the dark forest is where the sword is hidden and protected by magic. Their plan is to take both swords for up north and climb Devil's Peak where an elf sorcerer lives and have him destroy both of the blades. He is the creator of these blades and the only one in the world that has the knowledge and the power to even attempt such a dangerous task.
