This translation into Persian is part of project to translate Winnie-the-Pooh into other languages. The idea is children need to learn to read at an early age and the best way to teach them to read is to provide reading materials that they find interesting. Since Winnie-the-Pooh is the most popular children's book world-wide, translating this book into the different languages of the world will be conducive to teaching children to read in those languages.
Persian is the language of Iran and Tajikistan as well as parts Afghanistan and Pakistan. It is also called Farsi in Iran and Dari in Afghanistan. It is also spoken in Uzbekistan, Bahrain, Azerbaijan, Iraq, Russia and New York. In the written form, many people who speak other languages read and write in Persian. Most Pashto speakers write in Persian because the written form of Pashto is difficult and not well known. Persian was at one time the main literary language throughout the Middle East. There are an estimated 110 million speakers of Persian in the World today.
Almost all of the languages of the Middle East have borrowed heavily from Persian. Persian words can be found in Urdu, Hindi, Punjabi, Bengali and just about all the languages of India. Many of these languages use a modified Persian alphabet.
