Publisher's Synopsis

This story follows Winicky Witch, an ordinary witch who becomes more and more finicky as she battles her Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). Winicky's OCD obsessions are represented by a bully, Oswald Witch (who is actually her imagination). Oswald is impulsive, intrusive and bossy. She pops up out of the blue and tells Winicky that bad things will happen, like her parents turning into frogs and the sky falling down. Winicky consequently begins rituals and routines like counting potion ingredients, repeating spells and lining up her broomsticks. Eventually, Winicky learns how to respond to her imaginary friend in order to overcome her OCD bully.

This book facilitates children to think about their own symptoms of OCD and how to tackle them. It does this by interweaving the principles of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) into a story and helping the child relate to the main character. It can also help educate children about how OCD may look. The book can be read together with parents, teachers or mental health professionals.

Winicky Witch and her OCD is a light-hearted and simple story in order to keep the reader focused and engaged.
