Publisher's Synopsis
Scarborough, 1938. When Jane and Nell are brought together by a chance encounter, Nell invites Jane to visit her family in Lowestoft, hoping that the newfound freedom will bring Jess the happiness her strict upbringing never allowed. Nell's friends Simon and Ewan accept Jane as one of their own but the threat of war brings changes for all four of them: Simon and his ship are involved in mine-sweeping, Ewan joins the RAF, and Nell and Jane join the Land Army, but it is when both girls fall for the same man that the strength of their friendship is truly challenged.
