Publisher's Synopsis
Wild Light of The Heart is a passionate debut collection of poetry, weaving deep personal experiences through a poetic lens of the seasons, with strong mythical themes of love, loss and transformation, reflected in the landscapes of Ireland's wild west coast.
Mallika McCarthy is a poet, but also a singer, songwriter, voice and yoga teacher, who grew up with a suitcase in her hand. She now lives in County Clare, Ireland, just a stone's throw from the ocean.
A lifetime of outstanding artistic expression is fully manifest within this collection of poems. The book includes beautiful pen-and-ink drawings by the author, reminiscent of 19th century faerie-tale illustration, of trees, rooks, wolves, moons and castles.
Here are comments from the early reviews:
"Wild Light of The Heart layers the mythic with the personal, the past with the present, and the landscape with self, in poignant, tearaway poems, evocatively illustrated." - Jane Meredith - Author, Ritualist
"Sage, poetess, mystic, wood nymph, faerie, songwriter, singer, caretaker of ancient Irish myths and mysteries. I could go on, but it's best you discover Mallika for yourself." - Miten, Musician, Songwriter, PoetJoin Mallika McCarthy on this wonder-filled journey through the seasons fully illuminated by the wild light of her heart.
