Publisher's Synopsis
If you are a golfist and your partner is not, this is the perfect birthday or Christmas present for her/him/it - why bore them by extolling the virtues of the game when you can avoid the trauma and let my book bore them on your behalf? If you are a golfist and your best friend or relative or colleague is not, this is the perfect birthday or Christmas present for her/him/it - why bore them by proselytising when you can just hand them 284 pages of my tortuously purple prose? Mustn't put myself down, though - I love the game, so it's actually a serious book, and I like to think it's reasonably well written - written for people who have never considered playing golf, because people who have never considered playing golf simply have no idea what the game can bring to their lives. The truth is that literally anyone can improve their lives by taking up golf - any age, any sex, any level of fitness, any budget, any social standing. No matter who or what you are, golf can make a huge and positive difference to your life. And don't make the mistake of thinking golf is just a silly game of hit ball into hole, perhaps in odd clothes. Golf is far from 'just a game' - it can be, well into your nineties, even beyond, your exercise, your social life, your health and fitness, your stress relief, your challenge. You will always have something to look forward to, and it will become your passion. You will achieve things you never believed you could achieve. If you start playing young it will give you a lifetime of enjoyment. If you take it up as a couple it will add immeasurably to your relationship. If you take it up on retirement you could have another 20 or 30, even 40 years of wonderful experiences and friendships ahead of you. And along with the benefits of a healthy pursuit in the most beautiful surroundings, of maintaining and improving your fitness throughout your life, of a great social life among intelligent and interesting and decent people, there is also the benefit of playing the greatest game ever conceived, a game nobody has ever mastered, but a game absolutely anybody can play competitively, and enjoy thoroughly. In this book I hope to illustrate how and why golf can change your life, and also to give you the most basic instruction - instruction which could only come from an exceedingly poor golfist like me - to enable you, after very little practice, to hit the fairways with your fellow golfists without making a fool of yourself. My final advice - please buy the paperback - the formatting of the eBook is awful, and I despise the things, so I've made the paperback as inexpensive as possible. But eBook or paperback, please read it and review it. If it's rubbish, tell me so. I don't have a problem with criticism, as long as I learn from it. But hopefully you will not only read it and review it, you will understand why I am so passionate about this game, give it a go yourself - and change your life for the better.
