We do not mean, of course, to assert that it is improper to develop one or another line of evidence to the exclusion, for the time, of other lines. This is often most desirable. We think, however, it is un fortunate to attempt to discredit any of the well established forms of the argument for Christianity merely because some particular form happens for the moment to be unpopular. In the end more is lost than is gained by the procedure.
The attempt is made in the succeeding pages to state the argument for Christian belief from the four leading standpoints. The aim has been to put the case as clearly and with as little of the formal and technical in language and style as the nature of the subject would admit.
