Publisher's Synopsis
Since 1897, when it first included biographical entries instead of simple lists of names, Who's Who has been an invaluable source of information on the careers of people of influence in all walks of life and from all parts of the world.
Who Was Who 1916-1928 is the second in a series of volumes composed of entries removed from Who's Who on account of death, each with the date of death added and, where necessary, given a final revision. Entries in this volume include Thomas Hardy (1840-1928) and Auguste Rodin (1840-1917).
The successive volumes of Who Was Who, with their companion Who Was Who: A Cumulated Index, have proved to be a necessity for researchers in social and political history, giving, as they do, easy access to a unique series of biographies. The subjects range from major figures who shaped the events of their time to others, now forgotten, who were familiar names to the journalists and diarists who recorded the events of the day.
