As compared to the whole continent, it reminds one of the thirteen united colonies of Amer ica in 1776. Here is the only section of Africa where the white man has established self-governing communities. This is the New England of Africa, whose enterprising sons are doggedly conquering the wilderness step by step, carrying with them Christianity and constitution al government.
