Hudson Taylor (1832-1905) was one of the first Western missionaries to China who, despite mockery from his colleagues, dressed as a Chinese person and continued serving in China for 51 years. Outliving two wives and bringing at least eight hundred missionaries to the country, the Chinese people wanted nothing more than for this man to leave their country. Because of their hatred, Hudson Taylor became known as "Bai Gui"--the White Devil!
