Publisher's Synopsis

Where Mountains Come to Swim

Oftentimes, when alone and pondering the meaning of life and memories of the past, insightful revelations are realized. That is the case during the author's swim in his attempt to cross the Sea of Cortez. After failed attempts, Paul is determined to try again in conquering this challenge, bringing his wife and close friends along during the harrowing experience that defines determination and strength.

Interspersed throughout the book are memories from Paul's childhood and recounts of earlier experiences which defined his character and helped him develop into a confident human being. While engaging in this latest swimming attempt, Paul's mind wanders back through family history, meeting his wife, the birth of his sons and personal struggles, and throughout it all he brings the reader along on his journey of self-discovery and personal triumph.

Paul Lundgren is a coach who swims ultramarathons and a serial entrepreneur who makes time to shuttle his kids to after school events in a blue minivan. He grew up in Idaho where his grandfather taught him to fish on Henry's Fork, a tributary to the Snake River. At age 10 he began his lifelong career swimming both competitively and in the open water. Following his passion for swimming he charted a path into triathlons to chase dreams of championships and fame only to learn of and earn a much more valuable reward. Triathlons inspired Paul to build a community around training and racing where people could grow to understand the lessons learned in sport and how to apply them to life. Paul lives in Mill Valley, California with his two sons and wife, Chris Chorak.
