Publisher's Synopsis
In the late 1960's, the United States was still having protests regarding racial injustices, including marriage rights. A year after the Supreme Court ruled that interracial marriages were legal, racial tensions were prevalent for a 12th grade African American student in Wood Oak, Louisiana. Nell Jefferson, finds herself in a secret relationship with a popular Caucasian jock who is a member of one of the town's most hated and racially prejudiced families. Will their relationship remain hidden long enough for them to get married or will they also fall victims to the tragedy for failing to adhere to the historically established rules of interracial marriages in the Deep South?
