Publisher's Synopsis
A septic tank collapses and human remains are discovered. Adrian Stockwood receives word that Ora Mae, the dying African-American who raised him, is accused of murder. Leaving his comfortable life at the university and returning to his rural hometown, he encounters the hurts, frustrations, regrets, and secrets that surrounded his exile from that life.
