Publisher's Synopsis

What Can a Desperate Journey Bring?- Western Romance NovelEsther Lee or Eslie is on vacation, trying to leave behind her past with an abusive husband who is now dead from an accident. She also struggles with intense claustrophobia. Arthur is just on his way to visit his family in Oklahoma when his stepmother is scammed by a crook. Eslie is, likewise, tricked into giving up her debit card number. Angrily, she gets a job at a sheep ranch on the spur of the moment to earn money back. Her Amish family waits anxiously for her to return home.Eslie and Arthur meet and realize that, apart from their instant connection, they have another thing in common: they've both been affected by the behavior of a scammer named Peter. Together, they decide to go on a road trip on horseback to find him and get his name and picture. The journey is problematic from the onset. Arthur's family is convinced that he is wasting his time and judge him for the unnecessary risk. The mountains have various dangers, such as snakes. The third member of their party, a pastor named Wheeler, asks too many questions, and Eslie and Arthur clash a lot. When they do find the crooks, they don't manage to get any useful information, and Arthur is injured and needs to recuperate. Meanwhile, the attraction is undeniably growing. But Eslie has already once promised herself that she would never be married again, never give someone the power to hurt her to such an extent. And her sorrow from her past affects her ability to relate to others and to trust the man she is growing fond of. As Arthur rests at Eslie's parents' home and they both continue to try to track down the man who scammed them, they have to face their feelings for each other and decide where to go next.
