Commercial whaling is one of the most controversial subjects in the whole environmental debate, on which arouses high feelings on both sides of the issue. This volume presents papers from an international conference held in Reykjavik on March 1, 1997 where political and economic aspects of the whaling question were debated with reference to international law and regulations. Practices of relevant international organizations and the current political climate were also explored and discussed.
