This is the first of the fifteen volumes of Supplementary Despatches and Memoranda of Field Marshal Arthur Duke of Wellington, K. G., edited by his son, the second Duke of Wellington, and published between 1858 and 1872. The first four volumes cover the period near the beginning of Wellington's career, when the then Arthur Wellesley was in India, arriving a Colonel, possibly by preferment (his brother was to become Viceroy, arriving in India in early 1858), but justifying that preferment, and winning a series of major battles.Volume 1 begins on April 11, 1797 and ending June 6, 1800, so including the Battle of Seringapatam and the period immediately after when he was, at 30, Governor of Seringapatam and Mysore.
