Publisher's Synopsis

This work is a spirited, yet respectful demand that Orthodox Jewish women be brought to equal status with Orthodox Jewish men. The author contends that it is simply the right thing to do. This concise work has real significance because it invites conventional Orthodox Judaism to consider its future with women as equal participants. It is a book about dignity, self-esteem, fundamental fairness and respect. Orthodox Rabbis are challenged to assume a leadership role. Orthodox women are encouraged to find their individual and collective self-esteem in order to achieve real equality and thus, equal access to God. The author is a Reform Jewish man, a lawyer and retired soldier who writes from the heart, asks the hard questions and says things which frankly need to be said, in a style independent of religious politics. Care has been taken not to challenge beliefs outside the world of Judaism. According to the author, such tasks are better left for writers of other faiths. His references in support for needed changes are logical, grounded in history and enhanced by his personal experience.
