The story is relayed to us in an almost light-hearted manner, which is hard to reconcile with the circumstances the author was forced to endure. But then we realize it is being told in the same manner as they approach their life - with a sense of humor. "Welcome To Rio!" is the adventure/romance memoir of the author and her husband's time spent in Brazil, without the job that was promised to them and find themselves destitute.
