Publisher's Synopsis
Text in German. With over a hundred publications on German-Jewish literature and culture, Mark Gelber shaped German-Jewish studies like no other. In his work he combines German studies, intellectual history and Jewish studies in the most fruitful way. He has integrated perspectives from gender studies, migration research and postcolonial studies into his work and thus made a significant contribution to the content and methodological further development of this field of research. The studies on German-Jewish cultural and literary history, Jewish history and the history of Zionism as well as comparative literature collected in the Festschrift follow this interdisciplinary and methodologically innovative approach and are not only a homage to the work and the person of Mark Gelber, but also offer new perspectives on German-Jewish history and culture.
