Publisher's Synopsis
Hitting the fob sends yellow lights dancing across the asphalt. The sound of my heels are clicking against the pavement as I try to rush to my car. Glancing down at the shadows I can see I am not alone. I have my mace tightly in my grip. I unlock the device and sprint towards my car. The man picks up speed. My heart pounds so loud I can hear it drum in my ears. My finger is ready on the trigger when suddenly I am grabbed by my hair and pulled back onto the hard concrete.
My vision blurs. I can't stay here. My car is literally a foot away. Holding onto my keychain I spray the pepper spray into his eyes. Right away I scramble to get up, kicking off my heels I bolt to my car. When I manage to get the door halfway, he pushes it shut again causing the corner to lacerate the top of my forehead. I can feel his breath on my neck. My fear takes over so I kick my foot back. He falls to his knees in agony and I use this as my escape. I finally make it inside and lock the doors.
