Publisher's Synopsis
This book is intended to be a celebration of freedom. It offers us the freedom to look at a group of regular but accomplished young men as they are, without the filters of exploitation, narcissism or patriarchal power. For the rowers, it offers the freedom to reconsider their own masculinity and to explore more deeply their relationships with each other. Our understanding of freedom and equality will always be subject to interpretation, challenge and debate, and it is everyone's responsibility to be part of that conversation. The men in this book understand this, and are playing their part. They have given their bodies and souls to create a testament to their belief in freedom and equality and, by extension, to offer up a manifesto for change.
