Volume: The present quarter is the fourth successive quarter that the number of land transfers has been below comparable quarters of the preceding year. There are 30 percent fewer transfers in the current quarter than in the same quarter of last year. Purchasers: Farmers purchased 68 percent of all the tracts in the current quarter as compared to 64 percent last quarter and 74 percent a year ago. Tenants purchased 43 percent of the tracts bought by farmers or 29 percent of the total tracts transferred.
