Publisher's Synopsis

This is a collection of poems written between August 2015 and August 2020, when I lived and worked in Abingdon, Virginia, although they really have nothing to do with Abingdon, or Virginia, or the people who lived there. These are not nature poems, nor love poems, although there are poems like that in here. The subtle subject is about healing, about gradually inch by inch changing a mindset from pain to wellness. These are about the journey back from PTSD, Depression, Anxiety. The themes are subtle, but blaring, if you look.

Depressed, tired, and feeling far away from home, and not knowing exactly where that home was, and deciding I'd never find it with that attitude, I decided to make my stand in Abingdon. To me "make my stand" meant taking complete ownership of my life, my choices, my mindset, and my mental wellness.

The day I took my stand in Abingdon, Virginia, was the day I began, on foot, the journey back.
