Publisher's Synopsis

The Town of Tisbury, located in Dukes County, formerly known as Middletowne, was established July 8, 1671, at which time the name was changed. The work is an alphabetical listing of approximately 2,700 births, 2,400 marriages (naming 4,800 individuals.) and 1,500 deaths. Most of the marriage records show the male's full name and wife's full (maiden) name, with some of the records providing the the place of residence. Many of the death records show cause of death, and some show age at the time of death, providing an opportunity to calculate a birth year. This book is an excellent genealogical resource for colonial Tisbury, filled with names and information for the researcher. Paperback, (1910), repr. 2011, Indexed, 246 pp.
