The beach is admittedly without a superior, and the surf-bathing is magnificent from April to October. At low title, the smooth sand for a distance of six miles is as hard as the bicycle shell roads leading down to it, and from the hotel to Cape Henry Light is a good stretch for a morn ing sprint.
Back from the hotel, less than a hundred yards away, extends a great forest of pines, and with the pure air from the sea is mingled the balsamic odors of the land breezes. Virginia Beach also offers unusual facilities for sailing, fishing and hunting; and golfing, driving, tennis and wheeling form a part of the daily round of gaiety. A band fur nishes music throughout the season.
