The Great Exhibition drew the barons of industry to London. It is 1851 and the industrial revolution is in full swing. Though in this glimpse of human history, the revolution took a strange turn with the discovery of mysterious power crystals. The only child and daughter of a wealthy industrialist, Victoria practically grew up in his factory learning about the new machines and how to harness the powers of the crystals. When her stepmother dies mysteriously just like her mother, Edward Cannon, an apprentice funeral photographer, sees her ghost, and it launches them on the quest to solve the family curse. Together with Liam Penny, an aspiring pickpocket, they break into the Crystal Palace, where a machine on exhibit promises to immortalize people in moving pictures but may in fact project their souls.
