Earth has been under the stewardship of the Caledon Galactic-Interstellar Federation of Planets, CGIFP, for forty years. The ratio of women to men is twenty to one. The CGIFP placed a moratorium on births to diminish Earth's overpopulation, limiting one child per household. Men are authorized to have multiple wives if they can afford them, but only one child. Women who want a family, a child must stand in line. Soren Prime offers a mail order mate program. The catch, you can't come back to Earth and you can't leave the facility once you are there until a mate has been found for you. You have no choice in which mate is matched to you.
Finley wants a family for herself. She doesn't want to be wife number four or five. If she wants her own family and her own children, then she must leave her home and planet behind.
