Publisher's Synopsis

In 1967, Patricia, a young wife and mother, left her comfortable life in Florida and moved to Okinawa to be with her Army Corps of Engineers husband where she began her overseas work with Revlon. Over the next several years, she moved with her young family to Kwajalein in the Marshall Islands, to Hawaii, to Maryland, and to Italy. In this true story, the author reveals how her life journey abruptly turned away from western civilization when she departed Baltimore, Maryland for Camp Darby in Italy. That summer in 1973 the talk was all about the great "Saudi construction program" yet to come, but very much anticipated by Army Corps of Engineers. Three years later Patricia found herself in the middle of the Saudi desert. The year was 1976. As Saudi Arabia embraced the age of petroleum, the religious ruling hierarchy was more and more empowered; and the nation moved further back into a repressive culture unable to move forward on human rights issues. At this time, in this place, the author found the courage to bring about her own change and step into a new destiny that carried her far beyond Riyadh to Cairo; Tel Aviv; Jerusalem; and Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. Building upon life experiences, Patricia created a new destiny that transported her, once again, to nations of the world in this "age of petroleum." She was in Washington, D.C. when the "9-11 tragedy," hidden by petroleum wealth and power, exploded onto the world scene. Afterwards, Patricia left Capitol Hill to organize her notes and photos and to write her own petroleum story.
